Basketball Recap: HEARTS for Jesus Christ Takes a Loss

HEARTS for Jesus Christ was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 24-17 to the Westside Christian Academy Eagles. The Guardians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the defeat, HEARTS for Jesus Christ saw an underclassman step up: freshman Juliett Haynes posted five points along with ten boards and four steals. Haynes is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Donna Barile was another key player, putting up three points and five steals.

HEARTS for Jesus Christ's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Westside Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. HEARTS for Jesus Christ won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Heritage Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Westside Christian Academy, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Horizon Science Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
