Softball Recap: Helena Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hueytown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Helena). Everything went their way against the Hueytown Golden Gophers on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Golden Gophers: they've now won six in a row.

Carrington Schiefer made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 24 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henley Traywick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Macie Brashears was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Helena's victory bumped their record up to 30-14-2. As for Hueytown, their loss dropped their record down to 25-14-1.

Helena has already played their next contest, an 8-3 defeat against Brookwood on the 8th. As for Hueytown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-3 loss against Chilton County on the 8th.
