Basketball Recap: Withrow Comes Up Short

Withrow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 74-45 loss at the hands of the Aiken Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 514th, while the Falcons are ranked fifth).

Aiken's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Burnett Jr., who posted ten points. Justin Hawkins was another key player, putting up eight points.

Withrow's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Aiken, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0.

Withrow will head out to take on Taft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Withrow likes a good challenge. As for Aiken, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-64 win against Woodford County on the 1st.
