Softball Recap: Bryan's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Bryan couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lexington Minutemen on Friday. The Golden Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Minutemen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Thea Staten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Amiyah Langham was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

With the loss, Bryan broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-5. As for Lexington, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 25-3.

As of now, neither Bryan nor the Minutemen have any future games scheduled.
