Softball Game Preview: Ironwood Eagles vs. North Canyon Rattlers

The Ironwood Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the North Canyon Rattlers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Sunrise Mountain hit Ironwood with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 7-3 to the Mustangs. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for North Canyon's offense. They came up short against Buckeye on Thursday, falling 14-0. The Rattlers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Ironwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Everything went Ironwood's way against North Canyon in their previous meeting back in March of 2018, as Ironwood made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
