Basketball Recap: Ridgemont Comes Up Short

Ridgemont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverdale Falcons. That's two games in a row now that the Golden Gophers have lost by exactly 13 points.

Despite the defeat, Ridgemont saw an underclassman step up: freshman Riley Hites went 5 for 12 to rack up 13 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hites a new career-high in shooting accuracy (42%). Another player making a difference was Kylie Shreve, who posted ten points.

Ridgemont's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Riverdale, their record is now 15-7.

Ridgemont has already played their next matchup (against Calvary Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Riverdale, they will be taking part in a tournament against Wayne Trace at 2:00 p.m. on February 15th. Wayne Trace will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Riverdale surely won't give up without a fight.
