Baseball Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness Villains vs. Bethany Community Wolves

For the second straight game, Bishop McGuinness will face off against Bethany Community. The Villains will face off against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McGuinness has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Bishop McGuinness after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 13-9 to Bethany Community.

For Bethany Community's part, Ryan Rudd made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Rudd has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Bethany Community let Tripp White and Landen Long run wild. White scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Long scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Long has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

The victory was the third in a row for Bethany Community, bringing their record up to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Bishop McGuinness, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-8.
