Football Recap: Cason Gray's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tyler Legacy over Royse City + How To Watch

Tyler Legacy had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it seven. They lost 38-17 to the Royse City Bulldogs. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Tyler Legacy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cason Gray, who threw for 101 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 42 yards. Another player making a difference was Pearl Jackson, who rushed for 88 yards and one score.

As for Royse City, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Jamion Richardson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 41 yards and one TD. Those 272 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Bryson Arney was Richardson's top target, picking up 98 receiving yards and one score.

Tyler Legacy and Royse City could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Raiders (ranked 168th) will meet Longview (ranked 37th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Royse City will challenge Rockwall-Heath at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (89 vs. 20).
