Baseball Recap: West Valley Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tahquitz, West Valley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the San Jacinto Tigers. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Nate Navarrete was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Navarrete wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Roman, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Aiden Juarez was another, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

West Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

West Valley's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for San Jacinto, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-16.

West Valley has already played their next game, a 14-5 win against United Christian Academy on the 26th. As for San Jacinto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-1 defeat against Tahquitz on the 30th.
