Baseball Game Preview: Pinnacle Pioneers vs. Sunnyslope Vikings

The Pinnacle Pioneers will head out on the road to take on the Sunnyslope Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinnacle will be strutting in after a win while Sunnyslope will be coming in after a defeat.

Pinnacle's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Valley Vista as Pinnacle made off with a 7-0 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Dean Duran tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Pinnacle is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Pinnacle let Brayden Bullard and Jackson Marazzo run wild. Bullard went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Marazzo went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Marazzo a new career-high. Raul Escobar also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Sunnyslope fell victim to Basha and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Bears, falling 9-0.

Sunnyslope has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. The win got Pinnacle back to even at 6-6-1.

Pinnacle skirted past Sunnyslope 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinnacle since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
