Basketball Recap: Ally Weathers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Loretto over Lauderdale County

If Loretto was feeling good fresh off their 62-21 takedown of Lewis County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Loretto Mustangs fell to the Lauderdale County Tigers 54-50. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-44 last Saturday.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ally Weathers, who posted 18 points. That was a full 36% of Loretto's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ally Augustin, who had 14 points.

Loretto's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Lauderdale County, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Loretto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-35 victory against Lawrence County on the 9th. As for Lauderdale County, they will square off against Clements at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
