Football Game Preview: Colstrip Colts vs. Shepherd Mustangs + How To Watch

Colstrip is 2-7 against Shepherd since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Colts will square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Colstrip has given up an average of 34.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colstrip is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Baker on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Colts were outmatched by the Spartans and fell 58-20. The Colts were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.

Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Shepherd, as they earned their first away win of the season. Everything went their way against Whitehall/Harrison/Willow Creek on Friday as they made off with a 30-7 victory.

Colstrip better keep an eye on Caleb Nicholson. He was instrumental in Shepherd's win, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 81 yards on only 11 carries. Those 260 passing yards gave Nicholson a new career-high. Owen Schlotter got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Shepherd's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Schlotter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Shepherd picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Colstrip, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Things could have been worse for Colstrip, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-21 loss to Shepherd in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Colts, Connor Wilson (who rushed for 224 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
