Soccer Game Preview: Powdersville vs. St. Joseph's Catholic

The Powdersville Patriots will face off against the St. Joseph's Catholic Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Powdersville is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Powdersville's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Carolina Academy 7-0. Powdersville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Carolina Academy from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Jud Scrivner led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Palmetto on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as St. Joseph's Catholic came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Palmetto are ranked 135th).

Powdersville pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for St. Joseph's Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-3 record this season.

Powdersville was able to grind out a solid win over St. Joseph's Catholic when the teams last played last Monday, winning 2-0. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
