The Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers will square off against the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Legion Collegiate Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Legion Collegiate Academy easily dispatched Mountain Island Charter two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Lancers fell just short of Mountain View Prep by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday.
Brynley Gaa spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gracyn Hagler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Savannah Cornwell was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hickory Ridge never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Norman, sneaking past 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Ragin' Bulls' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Embler Kristyn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Kristyn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
Hickory Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Legion Collegiate Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Hickory Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Legion Collegiate Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Hickory Ridge in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ragin' Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
