Football Recap: Solanco Piles Up the Points Against Octorara Area

A well-balanced attack led Solanco over Octorara Area in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Golden Mules blew the Braves out of the water with a 49-14 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Golden Mules had established a 21-point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Solanco to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Sensenig, who rushed for 72 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Sensenig a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another back making a difference was Johnny Garcia, who rushed for 131 yards and one score on only 14 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Solanco was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 324 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Solanco's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.2 points on average over those games. As for Octorara Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Solanco wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 42-14 victory against Penn Manor on the 5th. As for Octorara Area, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-15 win against Kutztown on the 5th.
