Basketball Recap: Hawken Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hawken, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Orange Lions on Friday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Lions are ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Orange still got an impressive performance from Alex Mcculloch, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 27 points and seven boards. Thanks to that strong game, Mcculloch now owns an excellent 45.1% field goal percentage. Luke Schmotzer was another key player, putting up five points.

Hawken pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Orange, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hawken will take on Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orange, they and Twinsburg will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
