Basketball Game Preview: Harding University Rams vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks

Harding University and Mallard Creek are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Harding University Rams will be playing at home against the Mallard Creek Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mallard Creek took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Harding University, who comes in off a win.

Harding University will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Chambers, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Harding University escaped with a win on Friday against Chambers by the margin of a single free throw, 76-75. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Cougars are ranked 39th).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Kaharri Coleman and Markus Kerr. Coleman had a great game and went 7 for 13 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Kerr did his best for the losing side, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Mallard Creek took a blow against North Mecklenburg on Friday, falling 77-32. The game marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Mallard Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Harding University, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
