Baseball Game Preview: Stanhope Elmore Mustangs vs. Wetumpka Indians

For the second straight game, Stanhope Elmore will face off against Wetumpka. The Mustangs will face off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stanhope Elmore is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

On Tuesday, Stanhope Elmore was able to grind out a solid victory over Wetumpka, taking the game 7-4.

Tyler Woodham tossed a big game, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hayden Anderson was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing four bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jordan Jones was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Stanhope Elmore's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Wetumpka, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-11.
