Baseball Game Preview: Dr. Krop Lightning vs. NSU University Sharks

The Dr. Krop Lightning will venture away from home to take on the NSU University Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Dr. Krop beat Cooper City 6-3.

Fernando Guerrero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Esaul Pena was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That run marked the first that he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, NSU University put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past South Broward 10-3. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Aidan Jacobs looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

On the hitting side, NSU University let Rocco Rovetto and Devin Mila run wild. Rovetto scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Mila scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mark Manuel, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

NSU University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Broward only posted an OBP of .290.

NSU University pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Dr. Krop, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Dr. Krop might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from NSU University in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Dr. Krop avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
