Soccer Game Preview: South Walton vs. Maclay

The South Walton Seahawks will head out on the road to challenge the Maclay Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South Walton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Niceville just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. Neither they nor the Eagles could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept the Seahawks happy, as they haven't lost a game since November 19th.

Meanwhile, Maclay put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Arnold a 1-0 shutout. The Marauders' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Zach Ghazvini, who's now up to seven this season.

With that draw, South Walton's record moves to 10-2-3. As for Maclay, they pushed their record up to 12-0-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

South Walton opened the new year with a less-than-successful 3-1 defeat to Maclay. Can South Walton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
