Baseball Recap: North Laurel Comes Up Short

North Laurel was the 15-4 winner over Jackson County when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Jaguars fell just short of the Generals by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cam Hinkle put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Carter Kelley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

North Laurel now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Jackson County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

While North Laurel had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
