Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Westfall

After flying high against Paint Valley last Thursday, Westfall came back down to earth. The Mustangs came up short against the Unioto Shermans on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While Westfall had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-20.

Westfall's offense was headlined by Kendall Moehl and Jill Butcher, who picked up 10 kills apiece. They got some help from Makenzie Cook and her 12 assists. Finally, Cook was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Kinzli Batson had another great game (as she tends to do), getting 30 assists, six digs, and two aces for Unioto. Another player making a difference was Emma Spetnagel, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Westfall's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Unioto, they have been performing well recently, winning nine of their last 11 contests. That run has powered them to a 9-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Westfall is set to face off against their familiar foe Piketon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Unioto will take on their in-conference opponent Adena at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
