Volleyball Recap: Bay City's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bay City hadn't done well against Sweeny recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blackcats won by a set and slipped past the Bulldogs 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blackcats have posted against the Bulldogs since September 16, 2022.

Despite the defeat, Sweeny saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Stevie Brown had nine digs and four aces. Brown has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

The victory (which was Bay City's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. As for Sweeny, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bay City will be taking part in a tournament against Tidehaven on Thursday. As for Sweeny, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Angleton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
