Football Recap: Conemaugh Valley Takes a Loss

Conemaugh Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They were dealt a 46-14 defeat at the hands of the River Valley Panthers. The Blue Jays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-0.

When it comes to explaining why Conemaugh Valley lost, don't look at Xzavior Tatum. Despite the final result, he rushed for 74 yards and six touchdowns.

As for River Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.5 points on average over those games.

River Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Persichetti led the charge by rushing for 26 yards and one score, while also throwing for 27 yards and one TD. Brodie Forsha got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, River Valley will square off against rival Marion Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 13.2, the Stingers 14.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
