Basketball Recap: Excelsior Springs Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southeast last Thursday, Excelsior Springs came back down to earth. The Excelsior Springs Tigers took a blow against the Kearney Bulldogs on Friday, falling 54-20. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Brooke Paalhar had a dynamite game for Kearney, going 7 for 13 en route to 17 points and seven steals. Paalhar is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Van Emmerik, who posted ten points and three steals.

Excelsior Springs' loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Kearney, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-9.

Excelsior Springs will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Smithville at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Kearney has already played their next game (against Raytown South), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
