Softball Recap: Santana Victorious

Santana won the last time they faced Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sultans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 5-3. That's two games straight that the Sultans have won by exactly two runs.

Ashlyn Darrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Brynn Warren was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Sneddon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Santana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Santana and bumps their season record up to 6-8-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8-1.

Santana and Christian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Sultans see the field they'll take on Helix at 6:00 p.m. on April 10. As for Christian, their break will end when they face Point Loma at 4:00 p.m. on April 15.
