Softball Recap: Leopold Wildcats vs. Delta Bobcats
It was a proper cat-fight when Leopold duked it out with Delta on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 18-17. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Leopold got a massive performance out of Rylie Schreiner, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Schreiner also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Malia VanderMierden, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases and four runs.
Leopold's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Delta, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leopold will head out to square off against Charleston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Delta, they will venture away from home to face off against East Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
