Baseball Recap: Asheville T Takes a Loss

Asheville T lost against Anderson C back in May of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Trailblazers fell 11-7 to the Cavaliers.

Sterling Haynes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Abrey Hernandez and Gage Flowers did some serious damage despite the final result: Hernandez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Flowers went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Flowers is becoming a predictor of Asheville T's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-4 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Stephen Covington, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Asheville T has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Anderson C, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Coming up, Asheville T will welcome Hickory Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Anderson C, they will head out on the road to square off against Augusta E at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
