Softball Recap: Edinburgh Takes a Loss

Edinburgh extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-6 in the process. They fell 11-6 to the Union County Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 on Saturday.

Kenna Streeval was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Eloise Cox, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

As for Union County, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Union County's side, Kamora Klingman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, Klingman is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Ally Gray and Natalie Long did most of the damage at the plate: Gray went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Long got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits Gray has posted since back in May of 2024. Braylen Rudnick was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edinburgh will welcome Indian Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union County, they will be playing at home against Lawrenceburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
