Recap: Salpointe Catholic Lancers vs. John Paul II Cardinals
If the Salpointe Catholic Lancers were feeling good off their 65-27 takedown of the Flowing Wells Caballeros two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Salpointe Catholic was the victim of a rough 82-58 defeat at the hands of John Paul II on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Salpointe Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ben Aronson, who scored 12 points, and Logan Martinez who scored ten points. Aronson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. M. J. Gedebou was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Salpointe Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for John Paul II, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
Salpointe Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clovis West at 10:00 a.m. on December 28th. Clovis West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Salpointe Catholic likes a good challenge. John Paul II won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Highland Prep at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Highland Prep is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
