Meridian waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Sherando Warriors. The victory was all the more spectacular given Meridian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Sherando are ranked 42nd).

The win got Meridian back to even at 4-4. As for Sherando, they moved to 9-2 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Meridian will take on rival Warren County at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sherando is set to square off against their familiar foe Kettle Run at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sherando are on a seven-game streak of home wins, Kettle Run a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
