Recap: Largo Packers vs. Gaither Cowboys
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Largo Packers walked away with it. They had just enough and edged the Cowboys out 49-47. That's another feather in the cap for Largo, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Mikayla Paschal was her usual excellent self, scoring 35 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Largo's points. Abbie Lindfors was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Gaither still got an impressive performance from Joslyn Thornton, who scored 24 points along with three steals. Thornton hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeirany Taveras, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The victory made it two in a row for Largo and bumps their season record up to 8-12. As for Gaither, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11.
Largo will head out on the road to take on Wharton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Largo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. Gaither does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
