Waterbury Career Academy hasn't had much luck against Woodland Regional recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Waterbury Career Academy will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Crosby on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Bulldogs 23-14. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Waterbury Career Academy got a massive performance out of Jenesys Soto, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Soto a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Godfrey, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Waterbury Career Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Woodland Regional strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Kennedy an 18-0 shutout. Fans of the Hawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Caitlyn Braun made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ella VanAlstyne was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three doubles. Ayla DeCrescenzo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Woodland Regional pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Waterbury Career Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Waterbury Career Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Woodland Regional struggles in that department as they've averaged .560. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Waterbury Career Academy suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Woodland Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
