Baseball Recap: Bessemer City Comes Up Short

Bessemer City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 13-10 to the Lincolnton Wolves. If the Yellow Jackets were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Wolves when the teams met back in February of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bessemer City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Short, who scored a run while going 2-for-5. Jailynn Newton was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bessemer City's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Lincolnton, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bessemer City will host Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincolnton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Maiden at 7:00 p.m. The last five games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
