Softball Game Preview: Pine Island Panthers vs. Lake City Tigers

Pine Island has gone 8-1 against Lake City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pine Island's offense. They came up short against Stewartville on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lake City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Goodhue.

Pine Island's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lake City, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went Pine Island's way against Lake City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Pine Island made off with a 15-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
