Murphy has gone 9-1 against Robbinsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Murphy will welcome Robbinsville at 4:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Murphy has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Robbinsville will arrive with three straight wins.
Friday just wasn't the day for Murphy's offense. They came up short against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee on Friday, falling 15-0.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Robbinsville). They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Hiwassee Dam on Friday.
Rylen Orr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Robbinsville is 2-1 when Orr posts eight or more strikeouts, but 2-5 otherwise. Orr was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Quinn Jumper was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Easton Shuler was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Robbinsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Robbinsville's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Murphy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Murphy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Robbinsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Murphy came out on top in a nail-biter against Robbinsville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Murphy repeat their success, or does Robbinsville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
