Baseball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Bishop Machebeuf unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the SkyView Academy Hawks by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buffaloes of the 6-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Bishop Machebeuf saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Menke, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. The Buffaloes are 5-1 when Menke posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Landon Sulser also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bishop Machebeuf's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for SkyView Academy, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Bishop Machebeuf will challenge Dawson School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.78 runs per game on average), something the Buffaloes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for SkyView Academy, they will head out to face off against Woodland Park at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
