Basketball Game Preview: Independence 76ers vs. Bishop Hartley Hawks

The Independence 76ers will square off against the Bishop Hartley Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Independence is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against South last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Independence was dealt a 68-41 loss at the hands of South. While losing is never fun, the 76ers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 722nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 265th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Darren White-Tyler, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Oumar Sall, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Bishop Hartley took on Big Walnut on Saturday. Bishop Hartley walked away with a 63-51 win over Big Walnut. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Bishop Hartley's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.

Independence barely slipped by Bishop Hartley in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, winning 63-62. Does Independence have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bishop Hartley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
