Kirbyville waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hemphill Hornets. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kirbyville's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Hemphill, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Kirbyville and Hemphill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats will challenge Warren at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (495 vs. 158). Meanwhile, Hemphill (ranked 806th) will meet Kountze (ranked 80th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
