Basketball Recap: Northland Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Northland won the last time they faced Linden-McKinley and things went their way on Friday too. The Northland Vikings took down the Linden-McKinley Panthers 55-36. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Panthers are ranked 578th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Northland to victory were Diante James and Nehemiah McMorris. James went 5 of 11 to rack up 22 points in addition to seven assists and four steals, while McMorris went 9 for 19 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. James is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Owan Mburugu was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Northland's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points over those games. As for Linden-McKinley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Northland will take on Africentric Early College on February 15th. Africentric Early College has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Linden-McKinley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
