Baseball Recap: Johnson Comes Up Short

Johnson had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it five. They came up short against the Nova Classical Academy Knights, falling 32-4. If the Governors were looking for revenge after losing 18-10 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Nova Classical Academy, their record now sits at 2-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Nova Classical Academy's part, Kincaid Gerber was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Gerber was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

Coming up, Johnson will venture away from home to take on Harding at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Nova Classical Academy, they will host Mounds Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
