Volleyball Recap: Burlington Starts Season with Victory Against Kit Carson

Burlington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kit Carson Wildcats on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Burlington who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 16-25, 25-16, 13-25, 16-14.

Peyton Stults paced Burlington's offense, picking up 16 kills. Stults got some help from Rayvonn Holmes and her 23 assists. Stults was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Kit Carson and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Burlington will head out to take on Hi-Plains at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kit Carson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
