Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Randle Lions

The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs will head out to take on the Randle Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lamar Consolidated lost 9-3 to Fort Bend Kempner on Friday.

Lamar Consolidated got a good showing from Sebastian Silva, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Sam Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Meanwhile, Randle got themselves on the board against Fort Bend Marshall on Friday, but Fort Bend Marshall never followed suit. They blew past the Buffalos 10-0. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Buffalos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Coby Koteras, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Chance Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Randle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Bend Marshall only posted an OBP of .067.

Lamar Consolidated's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Randle, their record now sits at 14-11-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lamar Consolidated has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Randle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Lamar Consolidated came up short against Randle when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
