Softball Recap: Westmoreland Find Success

The Westmoreland Eagles beat the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats 6-2 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

The team relied heavily on Elora Vega, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Amia Caldwell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got Westmoreland back to even at 7-7. As for Franklin-Simpson, they dropped their record down to 7-8-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westmoreland will welcome Cannon County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.44 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Franklin-Simpson, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Butler County at 6:00 p.m.
