John Jay came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Van Arsdale Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 back in March.

John Jay's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Van Arsdale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
