Basketball Recap: Denison-Schleswig Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-40 to the Jefferson Yellowjackets. The Monarchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson found their leader in sophomore Junior Gatkuoth, who went 16-for-38 en route to 28 points and seven boards. Gatkuoth has become a key player for Jefferson: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 1-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jayden Fujii, who posted six points.

Denison-Schleswig's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 3-16.

Denison-Schleswig has already played their next game (against AHSTW), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Jefferson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-42 loss against Le Mars on the 11th.
