Softball Game Preview: East Bladen Eagles vs. Heide Trask Titans

East Bladen hasn't had much luck against Heide Trask recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Titans at 6:00 p.m. East Bladen will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

East Bladen took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Columbus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Stallions 9-8. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Niyah Wooten, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Taylor Dowless also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Wooten wasn't the only one working in the hit department: East Bladen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Heide Trask might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was East Bladen who claimed the real prize. The Titans fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5.

Naima Shepard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Saunders, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

East Bladen's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Heide Trask, they dropped their record down to 9-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

East Bladen came out on top in a nail-biter against Heide Trask in their previous meeting on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
