Softball Game Preview: Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors vs. Ysleta Indians

On Tuesday, Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy beat Austin 10-7. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Ysleta got the win against Bowie on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-3.

Dahlia Ornelas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Savannah Jurado was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Emma Dominguez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Ysleta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They are 7-1-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Ysleta's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12-1. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
