Baseball Game Preview: Kountze Lions vs. Hardin Hornets

The Kountze Lions will face off against the Hardin Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kountze has four straight victories, Hardin has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Kountze's win against Hardin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Kountze narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hardin 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since February 21st.

For Hardin's part, they got a good showing from Brayden Caldwell, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Caldwell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Trevor Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Kountze's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Hardin, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
