Baseball Recap: River Mill Jaguars vs. Triangle Math & Science Tigers

After a string of three wins, River Mill's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 14-3 loss at the hands of the Triangle Math & Science Tigers. River Mill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Triangle Math & Science apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Wednesday.

River Mill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Tubbs, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Tubbs has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

On Triangle Math & Science's side, Aayan Subzwari was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Subzwari was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Rehaan Subzwari was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Howard Apflauer, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

River Mill now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Triangle Math & Science, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Mill will take on Chatham Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Triangle Math & Science, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Clover Garden School at 7:00 p.m.
